Bellini, Vincenzo - Autograph Music Quotes Signed
Italian opera composer (1801-1835), one of the greatest of the Bel Canto era whose best-remembered works are Norma, I Puritani, and La Sonnambula.
Fantastic page with a rather lengthy part from his Tantum Ergo, op. 55, a quote from the soprano and orchestra version. In latin, with lyrics attributed to St. Thomas Aquinas (c.1264), "Tantum Ergo" ("Therefore so Great") is a series of 4 sacred songs, with #3 being for soprano and orchestra.
Signed by Bellino over the top right corner.
On verso, a second quote, from "Salve Regina", from the horn part, also signed on the top right corner. Hand-laid paper with irregular borders, approximately 10.75 x 8.5 inches, spotted rust and binding residues on the left border, in overall very good condition. A fabulous piece.
