Fabulous, extra-large photograph, hand-signed by him over the lower right corner, and inscribed to his friend, the French journalist, music critic, and publisher LeonĀ Escudier (1821-1881). Escudier published many of VerdiĀ“s works in France, helping establish his reputation there, and was, for 2 years, one of the directors of the Theatre Italien in Paris where he staged VerdiĀ“s operas.Ā Ā
Dated by Verdi in Paris, Sept 16th, 1867, the size is 13.8 x 17.8 inches, probably the largest signed photo of this composer we have ever seen. Great contrast, has been professionally restored to clean and remove rust, some signs of age but in overall very good condition.
