








Toscanini, Arturo - Original Trunk from the NBC Orchestra Tour!
Star Italian conductor (1867-1957), considered one of the greatest conductors of all time. Important original piece of memorabilia from his career as a conductor for the NBC orchestra. Trunk to store and transport the scores for the orchestra, used in their tours around the country.
Trunk comes from the estate of the late James B. Dolan (1915-2006), librarian and archivist of the NBC Orchestra under Toscanini (1942-1954), and a friend of the great conductor, later also librarian of the Los Angeles Philharmonic for 32 years (1963-1995).

Trunk is 17 inches high, 27 inches wide and 16.5 inches deep, it is empty and has a separate compartment inside (on the trunkĀ“s cover),Ā 2 latches and one central lock (key is missing), 2 original leather handles, a diagonal banner on the top with ToscaniniĀ“s name and the NBC Orchestra.Ā
Top banner and trunk“s paint have been restored to the original colors and missing parts of paper by a restoration professional.
It is fully functional as a trunk, and can be also used with a glass on top (not provided, can be easily custom ordered) as a coffee table or side table.
ALSO INCLUDED is a 2-page document with a list of the trunks transported by the Orchestra in their tours, including this trunk (nr. 41) for scores, a photo of Dolan with Toscanini, and a picture of an announcement sign for their tour at a train station, with a printed signature by Dolan.
