Stunningly beautiful print showing tenor Max Alvary as Siegfried in the opera of the same name by Richard Wagner, in the first-ever production of the Ring at the Metropolitan Opera.
This production - the US premiere of the Ring - started in November 1887, was performed for the last time in January 1891. From Harper“s Weekly, a publication that disappeared in 1916, showing a highly detailed print of the drawing by Barnard and Graham. Large size!: 21.75 x 15.75 inches, has a barely noticeable fold in the center, since it is a double page from a magazine.
