French tenor (1844-1937), then baritone, and later a vocal teacher; most famous for creating the role of Don Jose in Bizet's Carmen.
Early-1900s vocal score edition of Bizet's "Carmen" genuinely signed by the French tenor in the 1930s with a short sentiment in French, "In remembrance of my creation of Don Jose". Lhèrie added at the top a fake signature of the composer Georges Bizet and plus a short sentiment.
The vocal score was published by Choudens, Paris, no date (circa 1910), 363 pages, size is 7.75 x 10.9 inches, non-original hardcovers, in very good condition.
Autographs of Paul Lherie are exceedingly rare to find -this is a fantastic item to collect!
