Silk program for the world premiere of Samuel Barber's opera "Antony and Cleopatra" on September 16, 1966, starring American soprano Leontyne Price and Puertorican baritone Justino Diaz, on the occasion of the inauguration night of the new Metropolitan Opera House.
Size is 10.75 x 20.25 inches, pinholes over the top, overall light rust tone, otherwise in excellent condition.
Designed by Julian Tomchin, and made in Japan with pure silk bridal satin backed with cotton, these silk programs were mailed to each ticket holder in advance of the famous performance for the opening of the new Metropolitan Opera in 1966.
