Small collection of letters by Rudolf Bing, plus photographs from the early years of the Glyndebourne Festival (1934-39).
Collection includes: a) 39 letters by Rudolf Bing (1902-1997), who was one of the founders of the festival, and the first General Manager, to Hans Busch (1914-1997), Stage Manager during the first years. This includes 5 handwritten letters and 34 typed letters, most of them signed by Bing, b) two letters by secretaries, c) an envelope typed "Glyndebourne May-June 1934", with 16 original photographs of famous conductor Fritz Busch (one of the founders) and family, at the Festival, and another envelope with 6 more, and 2 negatives, d) one program for the Glyndebourne Festival 1939, e) 10 postcards of drawings of customs, in an envelope labeled "Glyndebourne 1937" (not shown), f) a carbon copy of a note to Audrey Christie, one of the founders, probably from Hans Busch, with interesting content, with an invitation to a lawn cocktail (no date), g) a few documents related to stage rehearsal scheduling at the Festival.
Various sizes, all in very good condition. An interesting archive, sold as a lot only - items are not sold separately.
