American theater producer, impresario, director and playwright (1853-1931), signed biography "The Life of David Belasco", 2 volumes (only volume 1 is signed) written by William Winter.
Inscribed to famous actress Blanche Bates (1873-1941), who was nothing less than the first Girl of the Golden West in the 1905 world premiere of this theater play by Belasco, one of his most celebrated, later adapted by Puccini for his famous opera with the same name (premiered in New York, 1910). Belasco writes "to my Girl of the Golden West and all the dear memories that belong with her, David Belasco, April 3rd, 1919" and also writes her name at the bottom: "Blanche Bates".Ā A truly unique piece of memorabilia!
